FAQ
-
With "The Big Step", Ulule and its partners BNP Paribas and National Bank of Canada wish to give an extra boost to those projects with a France-Canada character launched on Ulule’s web site. See all the details below.
-
Who can participate? How does it work?
Any entity or person pursuing a creative, innovative or solidarity project with a Franco-Canadian dimension, whether a company, an association or an individual, may participate. On top of Ulule’s usual criteria, the eligible projects must
- either be carried out by bi-national (Canada+France) teams
- or propose a clear implementation process in Canada or France.
THE BIG STEP offers three awards:
- one $10,000 award for a Canadian project seeking implementation in France;
- one $10,000 award for a French project seeking implementation in Canada;
- one $10,000 award for a bi-national project.
Eligible projects must have completed their campaign on Ulule between November 6, 2015 and May 24, 2016 (see next point). In this first phase, it is possible to get funding for a prototype or just part of a project. As part of an extension of existing business, it is possible to launch a Ulule project to finance a feasibility study in France or Canada. The three winners will be chosen on May 26, 2016 and announced on June 2, 2016; they will be presented with their awards sometime in June 2016. -
How can I participate?
Any participating project must be sent to Ulule to be reviewed and studied by our team. When on the "Submit Project" page, or if you are already talking with our team on the internal discussion thread of your project, specify that you are interested in The Big Step program. If your application is approved, we will assist you through the preparation and launch your fund-raising campaign. Candidate projects should be entirely completed on Ulule, from start to funding, between November 6, 2015 and May 24, 2016.
-
What are the criteria used by the jury?
Each jury member will receive a complete list of candidate projects and an evaluation grid with four criteria, each criterion being scored on 5 points. The criteria are as follows:
- Project presentation (text, images)
- Project impact (economic, social, environmental or creative project)
- Relevance of the bi-national approach (export potential)
- Subjective criterion (we are enthusiastic about your project!)
For each category (French project, Canadian project or bi-national project), the project accumulating the most points will be declared the winner of its class. In case of a tie, the points from the Jury president will be doubled in order to select the winner. -
When will the Jury meet? When will the winners be announced?
The jury will meet on May 26, 2016 to determine the winning projects. The winners will be announced on June 2, 2016 at an awards event. Awards will be paid sometime in June 2016.
